UPDATE KITZSTEINHORN

In April, construction started on the ropeway connection between the Maiskogel and Kitzsteinhorn ski areas. Already in December 2018, the first stage of the Kaprun Generation Project will be realized and opened with the MK Maiskogelbahn and the multifunctional Kaprun Center. One year later, the completion of the 3K Kaprun-Kitzsteinhorn-K-onnection – Salzburg’s first three-cable gondola lift – takes place. From the 2019/20 winter season, it will then be possible to reach the summit station on the Kitzsteinhorn (TOP OF SALZBURG 3,029 meters) directly from the center of Kaprun (768 meters) via the Maiskogel using a twelve-clometer-long string of six cable cars.

BRUCK AN DER GROSSGLOCKNERSTRASSE

The Großglockner High Alpine Road begins in the center of the village at “kilometer 0”. It leads via Fusch and the Hohe Tauern to the pilgrimage site of Heiligenblut in Carinthia. Small settlements existed in the municipal area already about 4,000 years ago in the Neolithic period. Bruck (Prugg) was first mentioned in a document in 1040. Its importance grew with the important Salzach crossing as a north-south connection from Salzburg across the Fuscher Tauern to Italy.

The parish church of St. Georgen with its“Gothic winged altar” and the parish church of Bruck with the statue of Our Lady“Mary on the Ice” hold sacral treasures.

Some natural monuments – lime trees at Kirchenwirt and Gaferlbauern, hawthorn at Niederhofberg, oak at Wolferlgut – are silent witnesses of an intact environment.

In terms of tourist facilities, Bruck offers: a campsite that has received several international awards, hotels, inns, guesthouses, apartments, etc.
